Muscat: Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed asked the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to ensure proper functioning of the courts and prosecutors in the country.

While presiding over a meeting of SJC at Bait Al Barakah palace on Monday, the Sultan also told the council to ensure that the rights and freedoms of the people are delivered. He also asked them to dispense prompt justice to give the people of the country their rights.

He also underlined the importance of the SJC’s role in this stage of the renaissance in the country, which marks Qaboos’ accession to the throne, to keep pace with the future visions and aspirations of the citizens of the country, reported government-owned Oman news Agency.

He pointed out to the role played by the council in shaping the general judicial policies, ensuring smooth running of work at the courts and public prosecution, developing this work, facilitating litigation procedures and enhancing the rule of law, which he said was the base of rule in the State.

“Ensure the rights and freedoms, accelerate the pace of work to ensure quick justice and enable people to have their full rights,” the Sultan said.
