Manama: Four people are in Kuwait police custody following an attempt to smuggle a stateless man out of the country under a heavy wedding dress.

On inspecting a car leaving Kuwait at Al Salmi post at the border with Saudi Arabia, policemen were amazed by the size of a white wedding dress lying at the feet of two women riding in the back, Kuwaiti Arabic daily Al Rai reported on Monday.

Lifting the oversized dress, the policemen discovered a young man, hiding in a foetal position.

The two women, a Kuwaiti and a Gulf national, as well as the driver, a Gulf citizen, and the stateless Arab were arrested.

According to initial investigations, the man had paid the trio KD850 (Dh11,230) to help him out of Kuwait, claiming that he wanted to look for an employment opportunity after he failed to secure a job.
