Manama: An Egyptian expatriate in his 30s was arrested in Kuwait when a police officer found him sleeping in his car high on hashish.

The man slept in his car to avoid being caught high by his wife.

The drug was found on the floor of the car and he will be facing charges of possession and consumption, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Thursday.

The police patrol became suspicious when they spotted a car parked in a sandy lot—a piece of cloth covered the front window shield.

The punishment in Kuwait for drug consumption, posession or trafficking can range from two years in jail and a fine of KD 2,000 to the death penalty.
