Cairo: Young Kuwaiti actor Sultan Al Ali has been taken to hospital in Kuwait City this week for an unspecified health problem after having an energy drink, his father has said.

Sultan, 21, was taken to the intensive care unit, his father actor Tariq Al Ali told Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai.

“Sultan previously fell ill due to his food style and excessive consumption of energy drinks,” he said.

“I advise our young people to avoid energy drinks because of their harm. Those who seek energy should know it comes through having enough rest, making a good efforts and exercising.”

The older Al Ali Monday reported that his son is in good health. “Thank God Sultan left the ICU and was moved to a room in the Royal Hospital,” he added in a brief online report with a photo of his son smiling while sitting in a hospital bed.

Health experts say that energy drinks, popular among youngsters around the world, can cause harmful changes in heart functions and blood pressure. This type of beverage, which usually includes caffeine, is touted as providing mental and physical energy.
