Dubai: Parking fees at multi-storey car parks can now be paid through Nol cards, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Sunday.

The facility will help motorists from the hassle of keeping exact cash or walking all the way to payment machines as the Nol payment will help people to just tap and go.

According to the RTA, the step aims to streamline the use of multi-storey parking facilities that are witnessing an ever-rising demand.

“This initiative is part of RTA’s efforts to broaden the use of sophisticated technology to ease the delivery of services to users of multi-storey parking terminals,” said Khaled Al Awadi, director of Automated Fare Collection Systems at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector.

Car park payment is the latest to be added to the RTA’s Automated Fare Collection System, as besides paying form the metro and bus trips, commuters can now pay for their taxi fares as well as grocery bills with their Nol cards.

“Customers can now use their Nol cards to pay fees at the five parking lots in Dubai. Providing smooth and accessible services will undoubtedly boost customer’s satisfaction with RTA’s services,” Al Awadi added.

Located in Al Ghubaiba, Naif Road, Old Sabkha, New Sabkha and Rigga Road, RTA’s parking terminals are open around-the-clock for motorists for a fee Dh5 per hour.
