Dubai: A late-morning blaze in Tecom/Barsha Heights on Friday was doused quickly by Dubai Civil Defence after a round of phone calls poured in from neighbouring residents reporting the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire which started at a restaurant at a residential hotel.

Owners of the building could not be immediately reached.

The fire was reported at 11.42am.

Firefighters from Al Marsa fire station went to the building and extinguished the fire by 12.06pm without injuries.

Fire crews were confronted with heavy grey smoke and the fire was brought under control, said Civil Defence on Friday.

Early investigation showed the blaze occurred in the air-conditioner at the restaurant.

Smoke could be clearly seen coming from an external air-conditioner unit, according to a video of the incident posted on social media.

No damage estimate from the incident was available. Investigation continues.
