Dubai: Dar Al Ber Society on Friday organised its 13th annual ceremony for orphans under the patronage of Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The event was attended by Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Shaikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and a number of senior officials and directors as well as a large number of orphans from across the country and 23 orphans from 10 countries around the world.

The move comes as part of the society’s keenness to please its excellent students abroad.

Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, executive director of Dar Al Ber, praised the continuous support of the orphans extended by Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum, and the support and sponsorship of the partners and sponsors of the society.

Al Falasi said that being an orphan is something to be ashamed of. Our Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) was and lived as an orphan and many greats leaders and scientists were also orphans. The orphans in Dar Al Ber do not feel being an orphan as the society provides them with almost full parental care.

He also said that the society sponsors more than 31,000 orphans around the world.

Shaikh Hamad, Shaikh Juma, Shaikh Ahmad, Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazroui, chairman of the society, honoured Dubai Islamic Bank, for being selected as the Charity Personality of the Year. Other sponsors and partners were also honoured during the event.
