Sharjah’s business environment lauded as PBCS signs new MoU

Sharjah: The Pakistan Business Council Sharjah (PBCS) has paid tribute to Sharjah’s leadership for fostering a secure, diverse and business-friendly environment, while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening trade and business ties between Pakistani entrepreneurs and the UAE.

The council hosted a community and business networking evening at the Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah on Sunday, bringing together Pakistani business leaders, bankers, exchange company representatives, community figure and PBCS members.

Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Counsellor to the UAE, Ali Zaib Khan, Head of the National Bank of Pakistan in the UAE Rashid-ul-Islam, and Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah President Khalid Chaudhry were among the prominent guests.

Addressing the gathering, PBCS Senior Vice Chairman Syed Saleem Akhtar praised Sharjah’s leadership for its role in the emirate’s economic and cultural development and for creating an environment conducive to business and community life.

He said Pakistanis living and working in Sharjah regarded the UAE as their second home and valued the peace, security, stability and opportunities provided by the country’s leadership.

Akhtar said PBCS would continue working to promote business networking, mutual cooperation and stronger links between Pakistani businesses and the wider UAE commercial community.

Ali Zaib Khan described the tribute to Sharjah’s leadership as a meaningful recognition of the emirate’s development and achievements. He praised PBCS for creating a platform to expand business networking, trade relations and links between Pakistani entrepreneurs and the UAE business community. Khalid Chaudhry welcomed the initiative and praised PBCS for bringing business and community leaders together. He also expressed hope that a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations would lead to greater cooperation, joint initiatives and new opportunities for the Pakistani community.

Rashid-ul-Islam highlighted the importance of using formal banking channels and legal avenues for remittances to Pakistan. He also welcomed PBCS efforts to bring banks, exchange companies and business leaders together to explore opportunities for closer cooperation.

A key highlight of the evening was the signing of an MoU between PBCS and the Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah.

The agreement was signed by Syed Saleem Akhtar, Senior Vice Chairman of PBCS, and Khalid Chaudhry, President of Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah.

The two organisations subsequently exchanged commemorative shields, symbolising their commitment to cooperation and closer engagement.

“The event underlined PBCS’s efforts to build stronger business connections, facilitate cooperation and create new opportunities for the Pakistani business community in the UAE,” added Akhtar.
