The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched a new “Instant License” service aimed at encouraging investment and making it easier for entrepreneurs to set up shop in the emirate. With this service, investors can now get a commercial license issued within a single working day—without needing to submit a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract in the first year.

The initiative was approved by the Sharjah Executive Council and is designed to simplify the process of launching a business. It allows investors to begin operating immediately, cutting down on paperwork and wait times while supporting Sharjah’s efforts to create a more dynamic and competitive economy.

The license applies to office-based businesses that don’t require additional approvals from other government bodies and allows up to three employees under each license. After the first year, businesses can fulfill the regular licensing requirements to continue operations.

SEDD says the Instant License will help reduce unlicensed business activity by offering a fast, legal alternative. It also gives new investors and expanding businesses a head start, especially those entering specific sectors aligned with Sharjah’s strategic goals.

Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, said the department is working to create a supportive and flexible regulatory environment that promotes long-term growth and stability. He noted that this aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the ongoing efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

“This service reflects Sharjah’s commitment to making business easier and more accessible,” Al Mahmoud said. “We want to attract investors, support entrepreneurs, and ensure Sharjah remains a leading destination for economic development both regionally and globally.”

Al Mahmoud said “We pay great attention to provide and improve a legislative and regulatory environment to promote business growth”

The Instant License is part of SEDD’s broader strategy to strengthen economic diversification and support sustainable growth. By easing entry into the market, the department hopes to enhance the emirate’s appeal as a hub for innovation, opportunity, and investment.
