UK's King’s College School Wimbledon will open its first regional campus in UAE
Dubai: A super-premium British school has been confirmed for Abu Dhabi's newest island destination - Fahid from Aldar.
The Abu Dhabi master-developer Aldar's education division has signed up with King’s College School Wimbledon for the latter's first regional campus on Fahid Island.
Set to open in September 2028 – following approvals – the K-12 school will 'significantly enhance Abu Dhabi’s already world-class educational offering' And offer future students with an 'established pathway to the highest ranked universities globally'.
This is the second major British school announced for Abu Dhabi in recent times. A location for UK's Harrow school was confirmed recently by Taaleem.
The new King’s College School Wimbledon Abu Dhabi campus can take in up to 2,200 students. It will occupy 50,000 square meters within Fahid island, which was unveiled last week as Abu Dhabi's latest luxury mixed-use destination. The first residential units are going on sale, with one-bedroom apartments priced from over Dh3 million.
At the launch, Aldar had confirmed that Fahid Island will have multiple components, including a school and hotels.
Fture phases will 'introduce additional educational institutions as part of its masterplan', said Aldar in a statement.
"Aldar Education’s robust network - with schools on Yas Island, Khalifa City, and Saadiyat Island - will expand capacity by offering over 4,000 new student places by the 2028-29 academic year, ensuring diverse, accessible, and high quality education opportunities throughout Abu Dhabi."
