Dubai: Dubai’s parking areas operated by Parkin will see new variable rate pricing come into effect most likely from April 4.

The new rates, as had been announced earlier, will depend on peak and off-peak hours of the day.

Tariffs for off-peak hours - from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 10pm - will remain unchanged, with 'pricing in line with the existing tariff structure', according to Parkin. The rates will not apply on Sundays and public holidays.

The DFM-listed company, which is part of the RTA universe, had earlier targeted an end-March launch date for the variable rate scheme.

What are the new rates?

In Zone A, on-street premium parking for 30 minutes at peak/off peak rates will be - Dh3 and Dh2 respectively.

  • For 60 minutes, the rates would be Dh6 and Dh4.

  • For 2 hours, the rates scale up to Dh12 and Dh8.

  • For 3 hours, the rates are Dh18 and Dh12, respectively.

  • And for up to 4 hours, these become Dh24 and Dh16.

In Zone A, there are also standard parking rates for peak- and off-peak, with

  • 30 minutes: Dh2

  • 60 minutes: Dh4

  • 2 hours: Dh8

  • 3 hours: Dh12

  • 4 hours: Dh16

When it comes to Zone B, premium rates for peak and off-peak are:

  • 1 hour: Dh6 and Dh3

  • 2 hours: Dh12 and Dh6

  • 3 hours: Dh18 and Dh9

  • 4 hours: Dh24 and Dh12

In Zone B, the standard parking tariffs for peak and off-peak are set at:

  • 1 hour: Dh4 and Dh3

  • 2 hours: Dh8 and Dh6

  • 3 hours: Dh12 and Dh9

  • 4 hours: Dh16 and Dh12

There are two more zones - C and D - where the new Parkin pricing will take effect from early April.

In Zone C, premium rates for peak and off-peak will be:

  • 1 hour: Dh6 and Dh2

  • 2 hours: Dh12 and Dh5

  • 3 hours: Dh18 and Dh8

  • 4 hours: Dh24 and Dh11

In the same locations, the standard parking rates will be:

  • 1 hour: Dh4 and Dh2

  • 2 hours: Dh8 and Dh5

  • 3 hours: Dh12 and Dh8

  • 4 hours: Dh16 and Dh11

What about Zone D?

Premium parking rates in off-street spots within these clusters will command peak and off-peak rates of:

  • 1 hour: Dh6 and Dh2

  • 2 hours: Dh14 and Dh4

  • 3 hours: Dh18 and Dh5

  • 4 hours: Dh24 and Dh7

Standard parking tariffs in Zone D will be:

  • 1 hour: Dh4 and Dh3

  • 2 hours: Dh8 and Dh6

  • 3 hours: Dh12 and Dh9

  • 4 hours: Dh16 and Dh12

It was early December that Parkin confirmed it will roll out new peak and off-peak rates across its Dubai locations.

This was done with an eye on optimising 'parking management in congested, high-density, high-demand areas', the company said. Doing so would support 'efficient traffic flow throughout the city, particularly at peak times and during grand events hosted by the Emirate'.

Earlier this year, Parkin introduced rates of Dh25 an hour for spots near exhibition centers and venues when major events were going on.
