The airline said it continues to monitor regional developments
Dubai: Dubai’s flagship carrier, Emirates, announced on Saturday an extension of its flight cancellations to and from Tehran until July 5, citing the ongoing regional situation. The airline had initially faced disruptions earlier this week, with some flights being rerouted on June 23 due to the same circumstances.
However, flights to Iraq’s Baghdad and Basra will recommence on July 1 and 2, respectively.
The airline said, “Due to the regional situation, Emirates has cancelled all the flights to and from Tehran until and including July 5.”
“Customers connecting through Dubai with final destinations in Iran will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice,” the airline stated in an advisory to passengers.
However, passengers connecting through Dubai to Iraq will be accepted for travel at their point of origin.
The recent regional situation, referencing the heightened tensions and attacks between Israel and Iran that occurred earlier in June, has caused intermittent disruptions to air travel in the Middle East. On June 23, Emirates had to reroute some of its flights en route to Dubai as a precautionary measure. However, following a thorough risk assessment, the airline announced it would continue operating its schedule, utilising flight paths that maintain a safe distance from conflict zones.
The airline has apologised for any inconvenience caused and reiterates that the safety of its passengers, employees, and operations remains its utmost priority.
