Dubai: Dubai’s flagship airline, Emirates, has announced the extension of flight suspensions of all flights to and from Tehran, Iran, until July 15. The airline cited "operational reasons" for the sudden cancellation.

In an advisory to passengers, Emirates said that travellers connecting through Dubai with final destinations in Tehran will not be permitted to board their flights from their originating airport until further notice.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers," the Emirates statement read. "We continue to monitor developments closely. The safety of our passengers, employees and operations will always be our top priority."

The region experienced a period of heightened tensions in the past few weeks, particularly involving conflict between Iran and Israel. These geopolitical issues have led to significant disruptions in the aviation sector. Airspace closures over Iran and neighbouring countries have forced airlines to reroute flights, increasing flight times and operational complexities.

This instability has made route planning challenging for global carriers, even after periods of reduced military activity. Although disruptions have recently cleared up, airlines continue to closely monitor the situation, with passenger and crew safety remaining their top priority amid this volatile environment.
