Dubai: There is no dearth of dining options in the UAE as Ramadan makes brisk progress. But if you are wondering where to go for your next iftar, it’s worth noting that there are many promotions that support a good cause. As Al Jalila Foundation alone points out, a number of restaurants across the emirates are donating part of the proceeds of their iftars or general sales to the foundation under a nationwide campaign.

Called Basma (smile), the campaign supports the foundation’s paediatric programme Farah (happiness) with every dirham raised going towards treating children with life-threatening illnesses, besides local medical research.

Sulaiman Baharoun, director of partnerships and sustainability at the foundation, said, “Al Jalila Foundation is delighted with the enthusiasm our Basma partners have embraced the spirit of giving by dedicating a portion of their proceeds throughout Ramadan to support children’s medical treatment in the UAE. The donations will go a long way to giving hope and spreading happiness to children affected by illnesses.” So if you happen to visit any of these restaurants for an iftar (prices per person indicated in brackets), you know you will be helping to treat a child:
