The atomic bomb memorial park in Hiroshima is now Pokemon No.

An official of the western Japanese city said on Monday that the developer of the popular Pokemon Go smartphone game had removed the creatures and sites that had drawn crowds of players to the park.

Game developer Niantic met a city request to delete them by last weekend, when a solemn annual ceremony was held to mark the anniversary of the atomic bombing that killed 140,000 people in the final days of Second World War.

City officials say the park is a sacred place where people come to pray for the victims.

The game has also been removed from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, at the institution’s request.
