A recent video from a Chinese factory has gone viral, igniting global debate over the risks of artificial intelligence and robotics.

The CCTV footage, widely shared on platforms like Instagram and X, shows a factory robot suddenly becoming active and displaying unexpected, aggressive movements.

In the clip, the robot — suspended from a crane — begins whirling its limbs while two workers are nearby. The employees appear visibly alarmed as one of them is seemingly targeted by the erratic machine. Quick thinking and calm action allowed the workers to shut off the robot’s power source, preventing any injuries.

The dramatic scene has triggered comparisons to science fiction films like The Terminator, where intelligent machines turn against humans.

Belarus-based outlet NEXTA shared the video with the caption, “This is what the machine uprising might look like: a video is going viral online showing a robot going berserk during testing.”

The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of advanced robotics in workplaces. One surgeon commented on the risks of robotic surgery, while others online expressed a preference for AI systems like ChatGPT, calling them “less threatening.”

As AI continues to evolve, calls for stricter safety protocols are growing louder.
