Dubai: As robots become a bigger part of daily life, China has taken innovation further by introducing dancing robots. At the recent Spring Festival Gala, one of the world’s most-watched television events, sixteen humanoid Unitree H1 robots performed a synchronised dance routine, astonishing and unsettling audiences alike.

Moving in perfect sync with human dancers, the robots flawlessly executed complex choreography. Their rendition of the traditional Yangko dance, featuring handkerchief tossing and catching, was particularly striking. This performance blurred the line between human and machine, sparking both admiration and debate.

Unitree Robotics, the company behind the innovation, shared the moment on X: “Unitree H1: Humanoid Robot Makes Its Debut at the Spring Festival Gala. Hello everyone, I am Unitree H1 ‘Fuxi,’ now a comedian at the Gala, hoping to bring joy to everyone. Let’s push boundaries and shape the future together.”

Since its release, the clip has ignited discussions online. While some praise it as an AI breakthrough, others find it unsettling. Critics argue that dance is an inherently human art form, one that robots, no matter how advanced, may never truly replicate.
