Dubai: Meet Sylvester Semedo, the man who won a lottery prize of $300,000 (Dh1101749.91), after trying several times, using the same numbers.

In a news release by the Massachusetts State Lottery, it was revealed that Semedo used the same set of numbers three times on a Mass Cash ticket that he bought at a market in Weymouth.

But the numbers – 2, 6, 10, 14, 18 – weren’t just some random numbers chosen by Semedo. These were some special numbers.

According to the news release, those numbers happened to be the only working floors on the elevator of his old work building.

The lottery officials told in their statement, “He won his prizes with a set of numbers he regularly plays that represent the only floors his old work building’ elevator used to stop on.”

The draw, which happened on June 26, helped Semedo win $300,000 (approximately Dh1101749.91) – money which Semedo revealed he would use to go see a Boston Red Sox away game.
