Rabat: Morocco's King Mohammad VI on Tuesday named Abdelilah Benkirane as prime minister after his Islamist party's victory in weekend elections, an official said.

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) won 107 of the 395 seats in parliament in Friday's poll, putting an Islamist party at the head of a coalition government in Morocco for the first time.
