Body found three weeks later, suspect in custody for 15 days
Dubai: A young Jordanian man has been arrested for strangling his 20-year-old wife to death four months after marriage, Roya news reported.
In a gruesome crime that has shaken a town in Jordan’s Irbid governorate, prosecutors have charged the man in his 20s with premeditated murder after he allegedly strangled his wife, also in her 20s, only four months after their marriage and buried her body in a remote area to cover up the crime. Her remains were discovered nearly three weeks later.
The public prosecutor ordered that the suspect be held for 15 days, renewable, in a correctional and rehabilitation centre pending further investigation. The preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who has a prior criminal record, confessed during questioning that he killed his wife following a dispute between them. The suspect strangled her until she died, then waited until he was sure no neighbours were around before moving and burying her body in a remote area.
