Brussels: The European Union has said top officials from its 28 members will meet on Monday to review the crisis in Egypt.
The meeting will look at the situation in Egypt ahead of a possible meeting of EU foreign ministers, Catherine Ashton’s European External Action Service said on Twitter. The talks “will coordinate member states and EU position & possible actions,” her office said on Twitter.
The next scheduled meeting of EU foreign ministers is in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, on September 6 and 7.
British, French and German leaders are due to discuss Egypt later on Friday amid growing international concern over the military’s actions.
