Dubai: During the education committee session at the parliament in Cairo on Tuesday, Al Noor Party Parliament member Mohammad Al Kurdi said that teaching the English language is a foreign conspiracy.

Parliament member Al Kurdi's comment was made in response to Dr Shabaan Abdul Aleem, a fellow Al Noor Party's parliament member's education report on improving Egypt's educational system, which includes teaching foreign languages. Al Noor Party's spokesman Nader Bakar lashed out at the party's representative comment calling it shallow, unfounded, and baseless in terms of both religion and science.

"Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) urged us to learn other languages. It was he who once said to learn Hebrew. That Hadith alone should've put this case to rest," he said.

According to Al Noor's spokesman, the education report Dr Aleem submitted to the concerned committee represents the policies and beliefs adopted by the party.

"Parliament member Mohammad Al Kurdi's statement will not go unpunished. He will be investigated for the comment he made," Bakar said.
