Dubai: One person was killed and at least two others critically injured during a concert by Egyptian pop star Mohamed Ramadan in the North Coast yesterday, after a pyrotechnic malfunction caused a violent explosion near the stage. Ramadan has since claimed the blast was a deliberate attempt on his life.

In a post on his official Facebook page, the controversial performer wrote: “The concert ended prematurely after an explosion occurred right beside me on stage, injuring my ear. One worker has died and two young men are in critical condition.”

Ramadan went on to suggest foul play, saying: “That was no firework, that was a full-fledged assassination attempt. Why such hatred?”

According to eyewitnesses, the blast triggered panic among the audience as fireworks misfired and shot into the crowd, causing chaos and prompting a mass exodus. The incident occurred just moments into the show, which was held at a popular North Coast venue known for hosting major summer events.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the nature of the explosion, and investigations into the cause are reportedly underway.
