Dubai: Egyptian cinematographer and actor Taimour Taimour drowned on Saturday evening while trying to save his son from the water in Ras El Hekma, on Egypt’s North Coast, Egyptian Syndicate of Artists reported.

In a statement, the Egyptian Syndicate of Artistic Professions expressed deep sorrow and grief over Taimour’s tragic death, offering condolences to his family and noting that he was a prominent figure in the country’s dramatic and cinematic photography fields.

Several artistes took to social media to mourn his passing. Actress Yasmine Abdel Aziz wrote on Instagram: “There is no God but Allah. The kindest heart and bravest person I have ever met. I pray for his mercy and for patience for his family.”

Actor Hossam Dagher, a friend of the deceased, shared his grief on Facebook, saying, “A father saves his son and drowns… Oh Taimour, the pain is unbearable.” He added that he could not hold back tears and prayed, “May God place him among the martyrs; he died a hero, drowning while saving his son.”
