Dubai: A 17-year-old Sudanese teenager was killed in a violent altercation in Cairo after a dispute over the equivalent of one US dollar escalated into a deadly fight.

The incident, which involved six unemployed Sudanese youths, took place in one of Cairo’s densely populated neighbourhoods, local media reported.

Egyptian police said they received a report about a brawl between two groups.

By the time officers arrived, one of the youths had died from multiple stab wounds.

Initial investigations revealed that the conflict began when one of the teenagers refused to repay a loan of 50 Egyptian pounds (approximately $1) borrowed from another member of the group.

The disagreement quickly turned violent, with bladed weapons reportedly used in the fight.

Eyewitnesses told investigators that the verbal dispute soon descended into chaos, leading to the fatal stabbing. The victim reportedly died on the spot.

Authorities have arrested all six individuals involved and referred them to the Public Prosecution. Prosecutors have launched a full investigation into the killing and are questioning the suspects to determine their roles and motives.
