Egypt: Renowned executioner Hussein Al Fiqi dies
'Ashmawi' carried out 1,070 executions from 1990 until he retired in 2011

Dubai: Famous Egypt executioner Hussein Al Qarni Al Fiqi, known as Ashmawi, died on Saturday, local media reported.
Al Fiqi entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for the 1,070 executions he carried out from 1990 until he retired in 2011.
Hundreds of residents of Al Fiqi’s home village of Minya Samanoud in Dakahlia Governorate participated in his funeral on Sunday.
Born in 1940s in Minya Samanoud, Al Fiqi joined the Ministry of Interior in the 1970s.
