Cairo: A woman motorist who rammed into a parked car in Saudi Arabia, left an apology note and SR73 in compensation to help repair it, the Saudi car owner has said.

In an online video, the man read the note allegedly left by the woman, “I apologise for the ramming and this is what I have: 73 riyals. Please forgive me. Your sister in God, Iman.”

He displayed the money and the note tucked into the handle of his car that appeared to have been hit in the rear.

In response, the owner of the damaged car, commented while laughing, “We forgive you, Iman. But you cost yourself a lot!”

He did not say when or where the purported accident occurred.

In 2018, Saudi Arabia allowed women to drive for the first time in its history, ending a decades-old ban on female driving as part of massive changes in the country.

The kingdom has since witnessed a vigorous drive to empower women by engaging them in public life and giving them leading positions in various fields.

In 2022, the Saudi traffic authorities said women can also apply for a licence to drive taxis.

Over recent years, Saudi women have established themselves in transportation careers that were previously limited to males, including driving high-speed trains, planes, racing cars and ambulances.

Auto sales in the kingdom have surpassed projections made before the decision to allow female driving.
