The rescue teams used special equipment to get the workers out

Dubai: Six workers died after being trapped in an underground water pipe at a project under construction in Riyadh.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Hammadi, Spokesperson of the Riyadh Civil Defence, said: “We received a report at 9:30pm on Wednesday, stating that six people were missing in a water pipe under construction within a project in Al Aziziya neighbourhood in the capital.”
“With the arrival of civil defence teams at the site, they found out that the missing workers were employees of a contracting company executing the project in Al Aziziya,” he added.
The workers were carrying out some works inside the water pipe but could not manage to get out after losing contact with their colleagues outside. The workers were found dead as they were stranded at more than 360-metre-deep at the Al Aziziya project.
The rescue teams used special equipment to get the workers out, but unfortunately, they all were found dead at the site. The Riyadh Police launched an investigation to identify the causes, Lt. Col Al Hammadi said.
