Round-the-clock medical services, safety guidelines in place for worshippers in Mecca
The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has called on visitors to adhere to health and safety guidelines, as large numbers of pilgrims continue to flock to the holy sites in the wake of the Hajj season.
In a statement, the authority emphasised the importance of wearing face masks, frequent hand washing with soap or sanitiser, avoiding the sharing of personal items, and staying hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Worshippers were also urged to avoid overcrowding at mosque entrances and exits and to seek medical attention immediately if they experience any symptoms.
The guidelines are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe worship environment during a period of high foot traffic at Islam’s holiest site. The authority also called on visitors to dispose of waste in designated areas to help preserve cleanliness and public health.
It noted that round-the-clock healthcare services are available to worshippers through three emergency medical centers located within the Grand Mosque. Operated by the Mecca Health Cluster, the centers are equipped to respond swiftly to urgent medical needs.
These precautionary measures, the authority said, reflect the commitment of Saudi Arabia’s leadership to safeguard the health and wellbeing of pilgrims and provide the facilities needed to perform religious rituals with ease and peace of mind.
