Cairo: Saudi authorities have laid out regulations for female citizens’ photos in identification cards, according to a local newspaper.

The regulations ban wearing glasses or contact lenses for those photos, Okaz newspaper reported. The females must appear in the ID photos wearing the hijab with a white background.

The regulations also allow female citizens to wear light make-up.

Saudi Arabia has recently obliged eligible female Saudis to apply for the IDs, saying it is the only official identification documentation.

According to the Saudi law, Saudi citizens must apply for obtaining the ID card on reaching the age of 15.
