Abu Dhabi: A Saudi man has been arrested for allegedly robbing several shops in Jeddah, police said.

“Over a period of time, the suspect, in his 30s, allegedly broke into nine unoccupied shops in a number of Jeddah neighbourhoods in the dead of the night, stripping them of cash and goods to sell for profit,” said a Mecca police spokesperson.

The man was remanded in custody, pending a move to public prosecution for further questioning and trial, police said.
