Saudi Arabia: Man arrested for killing wife by pouring boiling water on her

Cairo: Saudi prosecutors are interrogating a man accused of savagely beating his wife and pouring boiling water on her, resulting in her death, local newspapers reported.

The suspect, an African resident in the Saudi region of Mecca, was exposed after a government hospital notified police that a woman, holding an African nationality, had been brought to the hospital with serious burns and signs of physical abuse.

Investigations showed that the woman had been severely abused by her husband in their house in the governorate of Al Taif.

Her family transferred Thursday to the hospital where she died a day later. Mecca police arrested the suspect who is being questioned before referral to court.
