Abu Dhabi: A guard of a girls’ school in Jazan, a port city in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia, was captured on camera helping five others to burgle it, local media reported.

The man tried later to escape the charge of burglary by reporting his accomplices to his supervisor, who tipped off the Jazan police.

An investigation showed the guard helped the burglars enter into the school after they promised him a share of the stolen valuables, police said.

Surveillance cameras in the house of a neighbour, who turned to be a director of another school, revealed the crime.

Recordings showed the guard opened the back gate to the five burglars, who stole 65 air conditioning units and several desktop computers.

The suspects were taken into custody, pending moving to the Public Prosecution for trial, police said.
