Dubai: An expatriate dermatologist has been suspended from practicing the profession in Saudi Arabia after being found practicing cosmetic surgery without a licence, local media reported.

The decision was issued by Dr. Twfiq Al Rabea, Minister of Health, to crack down on violators of laws in the Kingdom.

The Health Ministry appealed to health experts and practitioners to abide by article No.9 of the Saudi Law on Practicing Healthcare Professions in the Kingdom.

The ministry warned that violators would be subjected to fines, suspension of their licences and imprisonment.

Article 9 of the law stipulates that any health professional is not allowed to do medical procedures beyond his speciality, except in emergency.
