Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced on April 19 the conclusion of the extended grace period for the payment of discounted traffic fines, officially ending the opportunity for motorists to settle violations incurred before April 18, 2024, at a 50 per cent reduction.

The Ministry urged all road users to adhere strictly to traffic laws to support public safety and avoid further penalties, emphasising that fines will now return to their original value for those who did not make payments within the allocated timeframe.

The discount initiative, which began on April 18, 2024, allowed violators to pay fines in full or in installments with a 50 percent reduction, covering all violations registered prior to that date.

Under a royal directive, the grace period was initially set for six months and was later extended in October 2024 for an additional six months, in line with instructions from King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

The General Department of Traffic had repeatedly urged drivers to take advantage of the temporary reduction, highlighting the initiative’s goal to support citizens and residents while promoting a culture of accountability and compliance with road safety regulations.
