Cairo: Saudi health authorities said they have suspended a cosmetic surgeon after he had filmed private parts of patients’ bodies and posted them on social media in breach of medical ethics.

Health Minister Tawfik Al Rabiah ordered the doctor be stopped from practicing medicine for violating medical ethics, the ministry said on its Twitter account.

“The doctor filmed sensitive areas of patients’ bodies after performing plastic surgeries on them and offended morality by posting them on social media in violation of the profession’s practice ethics and regulations in place,” the ministry added.

Neither the name, nationality or age of the doctor was disclosed. It was not immediately clear if the offender will face legal action.

Medical misconduct is an offence in Saudi Arabia punishable by a fine of SR10,000 and revoking the practice licence.
