Abu Dhabi: A Burmese woman gave birth to conjoined twins in a private hospital in Mecca, local media reported.

The newborns, who share a chest and abdomen, and have two heads, two legs and three arms, were referred to the Maternity and Children Hospital in Saudi Arabia’s holy city.

The newborns underwent intensive resuscitative measures after a cardiac arrest, doctors at the hospital said.

They added examinations were still continuing to ensure their health.

Saudi Arabia is a pioneer in the field of separating conjoined twins.
