Saudi Arabia closes Umrah entry as Hajj preparations begin

Dubai: Saudi Arabia has officially closed its borders to incoming Umrah pilgrims as of Sunday, April 13, 2025 (15 Shawwal 1446), as it shifts focus to preparations for this year’s Hajj season.

According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, today is the final date for foreign pilgrims performing Umrah to enter the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Interior warned that companies and institutions licensed to provide Hajj and Umrah services will face fines of up to SR100,000 ($26,600) if they fail to report pilgrims who do not depart before their visa expires. These fines will be multiplied based on the number of violations.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has warned that any Hajj or Umrah service company or establishment that fails to report the departure of pilgrims before their visa expiration could face fines of up to SR100,000 ($26,600). The penalty will be multiplied according to the number of overstaying pilgrims under their responsibility.

The ministry reiterated the importance of full compliance with all Hajj and Umrah regulations, calling on licensed companies and institutions to ensure timely coordination with relevant authorities and avoid legal consequences.
