Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia’s health ministry says 25 per cent of the population have been inoculated with the two-dose regimen of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The ministry confirmed a second dose does more than shield people from COVID-19 infection — it provides powerful protection against coronavirus strains, like the Delta variant..

In a tweet, it called on everyone to continue to adhere to precautionary measures and to book an appointment through the Sehaty app or the Tawakkalna app to get the vaccine, to protect against the repercussions of the highly contagious disease.

In the interest of students in the 12-18 age-group, the dates of the first dose have been booked in advance in preparation for the return of in-person classes, the ministry said.

It stressed to all students the necessity of receiving the first of the two-dose regimen of the COVID-19 vaccine before August 8 in order to be able to take the second dose before the beginning of the first semester, as the period between the two doses is three weeks.
