Dubai: Riyadh Police have arrested a citizen for firing a gun on a public road, Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.

“These types of scenarios are not normal in the Kingdom and the police takes these matters very seriously,” Riyadh Police said, adding that legal actions are being taken against the suspect.

Assistant media spokesperson for the Riyadh police, Major Khaled Al Kreidis, said: “With reference to the video being circulated online showing a person showing off a firearm while he was travelling in his vehicle on a public road in Al Aflaj governorate, we have taken necessary legal actions and the suspected has been arrested. He was firing shots in the air inside one residential neighbourhood, which exposes the lives of others to danger without responsibility for the consequences of things”.

He added that the security authorities were able to determine the violator’s identity and arrested him immediately. He is a Saudi citizen in his 30s and has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
