Cairo: Prominent Saudi preacher Ayed Al Qarni has said he recovered from COVID-19, weeks after contracting the infectious disease.

Last month, Al Qarni was transferred to a hospital in the capital Riyadh after his health deteriorated due to COVID-19.

“I thank Allah Almighty for having blessed me with well-being and recovery,” the cleric said in a tweet. He also voiced appreciation to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Salman.

Born in January 1959, Al Qarni graduated from the Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University in Saudi Arabia. He is known for his sermons and lectures and as an author of several books and a poet.
