Arrests follow extensive campaign involving 1,453 inspection tours
Dubai: The Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has arrested 82 government employees on corruption charges as part of its ongoing crackdown during March.
The arrests followed an extensive campaign involving 1,453 inspection tours across government offices and private establishments, the authority announced on its X account.
Nazaha investigated 313 suspects from various government entities, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, as well as the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
The investigations led to several criminal and administrative cases, ultimately resulting in the arrests for charges such as bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of power.
The authority emphasised its ongoing commitment to intensifying inspections and track any misuse of public funds or exploitation of official positions for personal gain. It warned that anyone found guilty of corruption will face legal consequences, even if they have retired or left their position.
Nazaha reaffirmed that these measures align with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to promote accountability, transparency, and integrity within public institutions and private entities.
