Dubai: Schools and universities in Saudi Arabia are to continue e-learning until the end of the current academic year, local media reported on Monday.
According to the Kingdom’s Ministry of Education, the decision was taken after assessing the situation over the past weeks and comes as part of the country’s efforts to counter the spread of COVID-19.
The decision, which has been taken in coordination with the Ministry of Health, aims to safeguard the health and safety of students.
The move comes at a time when the Kingdom is still reporting relatively high number of COVID-19 infections. Just today, the Kingdom detected 315 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 375,006, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday.
Last month, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education said that students at all levels in schools, and higher education institutions will continue with distance learning for the second semester of the academic year due to the pandemic.
