Manama: Two people died on Wednesday and two others were seriously injured in a grave traffic accident on King Fahad Causeway.
The accident involved a car and a truck heading from Bahrain towards Saudi Arabia, the traffic police said
The relevant procedures have been taken, the ministry posted on its Twitter account.
The 25-kilometres-long King Fahad Causeway was opened on November 26, 1986 by the then Emir of Bahrain Shaikh Eisa Bin Salman Al Khalifa and then Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz.
Millions of people on private vehicles, buses and trucks have been using the busy causeway over the years, with a daily average of more than 40,000, making it among the most used traffic stretches in the Arab world.
The causeway is the only terrestrial link between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and there are plans to build a new one.
