Doha: Two Bangladeshis are accused of killing and burning the body of their Qatari sponsor following a row over a sex-for-money transaction, a local daily reported yesterday.
The Public Prosecution charged the duo with the murder of their 73-year-old sponsor in a supermarket on June 20.
The two men have also been charged with practising sodomy, stealing 750 Qatari riyals from the victim and setting fire to the outlet.
The victim, a Qatari national, had four sons and six daughters. A son said that his father had been living alone for almost 35 years.
The Qatari daily Gulf Times, which reported the hearing, said the accused admitted having a row over their compensation for sexual services, but said the death of the Qatari was an accident. They said the Qatari used to sodomise them and other men inside the supermarket, where the crime took place.
"He used to pay us money in return for it," said one of the accused in his confession to the police.
"One night he asked us to share 80 riyals between us, but we demanded 100, the amount he usually used to pay. When we tried to take the money from him he started to scream. He fell down and hit his head."
According to the Public Prosecution, the accused tied the victim's hands and legs and wrapped a tape around his face to suffocate him. After the man's death, they set his body ablaze.
A police officer told the prosecution that the investigations revealed that the Qatari used to sodomise Asian workers in his shop.
