⁠Qatar’s former Emir ⁠Sheikh Hamad bin ⁠Khalifa Al Thani ‌has died at the age of ⁠74, the country’s Amiri ⁠Diwan said.

In a statement, the Amiri Diwan said: “May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him the best reward for his service and contributions to his homeland and nation.”

Four-day mourning declared

The Amiri Diwan announced a four-day period of public mourning in Qatar for the late HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, beginning Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Government ministries, agencies and public institutions will suspend work from Monday, July 13, with employees returning on Sunday, July 19. Flags across the country will be flown at half-mast during the mourning period. (QNA)
