Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has announced 1,130 new coronavirus cases, while one patient died and 129 others recovered in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total confirmed cases in Qatar to 21,331; 2,499 patients have recovered and 13 in total have died. The deceased was a 52-year-old resident who had received the medical care in the Intensive Care Unit and was suffering from chronic diseases.

The ministry said the latest cases were identified after conducting 4,096 new tests in last 24 hours, taking the total tests done so far to 124,554. It added that most of the new cases belong to expatriate workers who have been infected with the virus because of contact with previously infected.

There was also an increase in the number of infections among citizens and residents who had contact with COVID-19 positive family members. All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care, the ministry added.
