Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) foiled a major drug smuggling attempt through Muscat International Airport when they caught an alleged trafficker coming from an Asian country.

"The Pakistani national raised suspicion at the airport and police searched him," a spokesperson for the ROP said Thursday.

He alleged that the passenger had cleverly concealed 2,139 pills of heroin in a bag.

The alleged drug smuggler will be produced in the court.
