Oman reports decline in births and rise in deaths for 2024: NCSI bulletin

The report notes 69,561 births in 2024, with Omani births declining by 3.7%

Dubai: Oman recorded a 2.2% decline in births and a 3.1% increase in deaths in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the Monthly Statistical Bulletin released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The report noted a total of 69,561 births in 2024, with Omani births declining by 3.7%, while births among expatriates rose by 11.8%.

A gender disparity was observed among Omani births:

Male births dropped by 4.3%.

Female births fell by 3%.

In contrast, among expatriates:

Male births increased by 12.7%.

Female births rose by 10.7%.

The total number of deaths reached 9,264, marking a 3.1% increase.

Deaths among Omanis grew by 2.6%, totaling 7,413:

Male deaths rose by 5.8%.

Female deaths decreased by 1.7%.

Expatriate deaths, however, saw a larger increase of 5.5%, with:

Male deaths rising by 4.2%.

Female deaths increasing significantly by 10.7%.
