Dubai: A fine of OMR 1,000 (Dh9,541) will be imposed on cafes, restaurants and places serving shisha if they are caught violating the restrictions announced by the Supreme Committee tasked with handling COVID-19.
Qais bin Mohammad Al Youssef, Minister of Commerce , Industry and Investment Promotion, issued Decision No. 29/2021 on dealing with violators of the decisions made by the Supreme Committee.
Article one states that the MoCIIP, responsible for monitoring the compliance of restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served, may take the following measures if needed:
1- Fining restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served if caught violating the COVID-19 measures and seizing equipment.
2- Inspecting restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served to verify compliance with the committee’s decisions.
3- Issuing a report of the violation committed.
Article 2 of the decision stipulates that the Ministry would seek the assistance of the Royal Oman Police and competent authorities in implementing the provisions of this decision. Article Three fixes an administrative fine of OMR 1,000 along with closure for a month for a repeated violation. The fines collected will be transferred to the fund designated to fight the pandemic.
